Excellence Is Not Something You Achieve; It Is Someone You Become. To assure continual improvement, people who desire excellence must never stop growing. They must spend long hours in the refinery of character, skills, and abilities. We can become the best if we will simply take this journey of excellence one step and one day at a time. For excellence sake, we must accept ourselves as we are while seeking to become better in every facet of life.
Perfection:
A person of excellence is not a perfectionist. Perfection is reaching a final destination. Excellence is continual growth and hard forged transformation. The very nature of excellence is contrary to a stagnant perfection. We will never be perfect, but we can get better. Our lifelong attitude should be, “I can become more. I can dating more. I must never stay the same.”
Commitment To Change:
Our commitment to change determines our upward progress on the ladder of success. Enjoy and embrace change without going overboard. Make the necessary changes one at a time. The world itself is rapidly changing, and all this change is exciting! Technology is soon outdated! Vacant land is quickly developed! Communications are faster and faster!
We have to change as well so we can keep on the continual incline today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives.
Action Steps:
1. What areas need improvement in your life?
2. How has this principle, “Excellence Is Not Something You Achieve; It Is Someone You Become” changed the way you think?

With the promotion of the video The Secret, the Law of Attraction is becoming a popular topic of daily conversation. One of my most esteemed colleagues has been studying this Law along with numerous others in trying to explain what separates successful individuals from not so successful ones.
In the spring of 2006 during one of our many philosophical conversations, he talked about one secret of the Law of Attraction - surrender. For me, surrender had such negative connotations that I just could not get pass the word. My beliefs, those foundational thought processes, became an obstacle to understanding the counsel of this wise gentleman.
After 6 months of grappling with this concept and knowing that this mentor and friend would not intentionally provide me with false information, I began to explore my own beliefs bags the word surrender. To assist me in this journey, I returned to my dear friend Webster who has shown me through the origins of words how to change my beliefs.
Surrender is comprised of 2 words both of Old French in origin and means to up (sur) and render (rendre). Surrender means to render up. Modern translations have taken the word to mean to give up, to abandon, to yield or resign. However, these translations are not the original meaning of the word.
Once I understood that surrender was all about “rendering up,” the wise words of my friend made total sense.
Essentially, if you are doing what you need to go to get to where you need to go, there comes a time that you must “render up” your efforts to a higher being. By keeping all that inside of you and not rendering it up, you are broadcasting all of the anxiety and negative emotions that go hand in hand with your efforts.
For example, you consistently plan your work and work your plan. You have several outstanding pending sales. Instead of rendering these thoughts up, you continue to think about them even though you know there is nothing else you can do. These thoughts are being broadcast 24/7 and actually cosmetics people and incoming opportunities away. This is the Law of Attraction in reverse.
However, when you let go and render up, you remove that obstacle preventing the Law of Attraction from happening. Suddenly, other new opportunities find their way to you and life is good.
One of my core beliefs is that “You receive what you believe.” This is the essence of the Law of Attraction. However, this belief is embedded in another belief that you are not alone in the universe and there exists a higher being who truly desires that you receive what you believe. By rendering up my actions and outcomes, I acknowledge that being and know in my heart that “I will receive what I believe.”

PTSD: war’s inhumane lifelong legacy
Post traumatic stress disorder
This isn’t a personality disorder
This is the dark side of war
The after effects which rot your core
The lingering traumatic imagery
That reminds you of your insensitivity
Something you don’t want anymore
Yet it stays nearby bags never leaves you
Torments you in the late night hour
Weighs heavy on your heart to devour
Sweep away your mental stability
Draining and depleting all tranquility
The remembrance of innocent humanity
Dying brutally and that unnecessarily
During a cruel killing combat mission
You couldn’t return, no permission
Locked into battle, the enemies scatter
Countless skulls you violently shatter
Shrapnel causes blood to spew and splatter
Medics on the field wonder if it does matter
Why war and all the political chatter?
Surely from war no society is any better.
Meanwhile the men miserably fight on
Though their hearts are somewhat gone
Their tender souls torn and forlorn
Quietly and inwardly they deeply yearn
To pack up their bags and try to return
To civilization, to see their family and nation
Anything to get away from such devastation
Killing is creepy and comes with inhibition
Yet the military labors psychologically
To reprogram young men mentally
To get ready to be blood thirsty and kill
Blow up, bomb, wound, and blood spill
No time to think, ponder, or fully feel
Do as your told, be brave, and bold
Your commanders want to make and mold
You into a natural born soldier and killer
Until theatres of war become a thriller
Nevertheless going blindly into battle
Is like being a gullible, desperate gambler
Going after what is around the corner
Suddenly “Boom!” another suicide bomber
After a while you don’t know who to trust
A few fatalities and combat buddies later
You are ready to go full force with this thrust
Annihilate every breathing thing to dust
Lest they again attack, maim, and kill us
At the end of the day of killing well done
Your memories torment with things gruesome
Battle weary, you pray for Jesus to come
Put an end to the needless strife someone
Killing, killing, and more killing is no fun
Post traumatic stress causes much unrest
Soldiers and their families do confess
Therefore it is safe to say, no war is blessed.
