Celebrating Anniversaries 1 - 5 With Perfumes

January 20th, 2009

Most of us enjoy a whiff of a delicious perfume, either on ourselves or on somebody else. Instead of buying just any perfume for an anniversary, why not get one that directly has something to do with the theme of the celebrated anniversary? There are infinite amounts of options out there, so you do have to know about your partner’s preferences. If a woman like musky notes, don’t bring home a fruity perfume! To play it safe, I would recommend that you buy the smallest size possible, so it’s not that much of a loss if he or she doesn’t like it (and people sometimes have adverse reactions to certain scents). Plus that way, he or she will have used it up by the next anniversary and you can go out and buy more!

Anniversary 1 is Paper: We start out pretty lame, since I could not find any perfume that contained the word “paper” in it. But, there are cards with perfumed inserts, which might be most appropriate for women.

Anniversary 2 is Cotton and we have a few more options here. Cotton is associated with the scent of freshly washed linen, so most of the perfumes have a lighter note. For a woman get Cotton Splash Perfume by Marc Jacobs, White Linen Breeze by Estee Lauder or Crisp Cotton Perfume Oil sold in The Body Shop. For men there are not that many options; you could go with Cotton Candy Perfume by Demeter for men and women, or Lucky You by Liz Claiborne, since one of its ingredients is Cotton flower.

Anniversary 3 is Leather. A scent mostly associated with men (because of the whole cowboy thing, I guess), you have a lot of option for the guys: Containing the word leather in it’s name are a series of English Leather by Dana, English Leather Wind Drift, English Leather Timberline and English Leather Musk.

The following fragrances for men carry a note of leather: John Varvatos, Polo by Ralph Lauren, Carlos Santana, Chaps by Ralph Lauren, Dunhill Fresh by Alfred Dunhill, Gentleman by Givenchy, Gucci Pour Homme by Gucci, Nicole Miller for Men, Safari by Ralph Lauren and many, many more. You can always ask for more fragrances with a leather note at the perfume store, should none of these appeal to you.

For women it’s the same thing: there are only few perfumes that have the word itself in the name. The only ones I found are Leather for Women by Demeter and Aigner in Leather by Etienne Aigner. But when it comes to perfumes with a note of leather, you have more options: Cabochard by Parfums Gres, Fendi, Habanita by Molinard, Image by Nino Cerruti, No. 19 by Chanel, Caleche by Hermes and more.

For anniversary 4, Fruit or Flowers you will have so many options that I can’t possibly name all of them. Most of the perfumes have both flower and fruit notes, so if you want to go with one of the two only, you’ll have to speak with a knowledgeable salesperson in the perfume store.

Only a few options for her are Fruit de Bois by Jean Charles Brosseau, Jessica McClintock for women, Fruity Rythm by Adidas, Pacific Paradise and Island Kiss by Escada, Faconnable Femme by Faconnable, Guess for Women, Head Over Heals by Revlon, Incanto and Incanto Charm by Salvatore Ferragamo, Flower for Women by Kenzo, Spring Flower and Fantasia de Fleurs by Creed, Fleur de Diva by Ungaro, Fleur de Fleurs by Nina Ricci … let me just catch my breath! The list goes on and on, so you will have many options here. Make sure with your darling which fruit or flower she likes, else she just might get a headache!

Since men’s fragrances tend to be less fruity and sweet, you would think that you would have fewer options, compared to women’s fragrances, but don’t forget that almost all perfumes have a flower or a fruit thrown in somewhere. Some ideas for him are: Baldessarini by Hugo Boss, Black Code by Giorgio Armani, Neroli Sauvage by Creed, Curve by Liz Claiborne, Sport by Royal Copenhagen and Very Sexy for Men by Victoria’s Secret.

Now to the last theme of the first five anniversaries. Year 5 is Wood, so if you include fragrance notes like sandalwood, you are going to have a lot of options again. For women, get Glamourous by Ralph Lauren, Eau de Dior Relaxing by Christian Dior, Shi by Alfred Sung, Versace Woman by Versace, Sensi by Giorgio Armani, Black Cashmere by DKNY or Blush for Women by Marc Jacobs. Honestly, there are so many I could fill up a whole page, but these will give you an idea.

And finally, for men you have Black XS by Paco Rabanne, BLV Notte by Bulgari, Brit for Men by Burberry, Cacharel for Men by Cacharel, Dune by Christian Dior, Gravity by Coty and Gucci Pour Homme, just to name a few.

Crucial Necessary Last Minute Skin Care Materials

January 19th, 2009

Today’s society is educated on the intricacies of man skin care. Thanks to the information fed by the media, most are aware of the skin products which suit their needs.

Appearance plays a large role in how a person is perceived which is why it has been elevated in importance. When it comes to skin, men are more blessed. Their skin is 20% thicker. Men usually receive less fine lines and age is much kinder to them. The industry produces many male skin care materials despite some opposition from their audience that skin care is exclusively a female worry.

Everybody listen up. Here’s list of skin care necessities:

(1) Sunscreen. Too much tanning kills the skin making it more susceptible to cancer and early aging. When you hit the beach, don’t neglect to apply liberal amounts of sunscreen.

(2) Cleansers. Acne-free skin needs cleanliness. There can’t be oil or dead skin on the surface. Some men have oily and sensitive skin so they might have to look into special cleansers. In general, man skin care is limited to soap.

(3) Retinoid. Retinoid clears your pores and helps with overly-sun-exposed skin.

(4) Razors. Razors with at least 3 blades can help to remove dead skin. However, watch out because some have found ingrown hairs to be a side effect. If you’re one of them, an electric shaver should eliminate the problem.

(5) Aftershave. Male skin care includes aftershave applications. Choose one that’s alcohol-free because it dries your skin. Also get one with moisturizer and disinfectant so that you soften your skin while simultaneously become ingrown hair-free.

Females have many more options to review. Here’s advice you’ll want to remember making considerations:

Facial Cleaners

Skin doctors endorse cetaphil for its lack of preservatives. The Xtend-Life line of products is a sure win here. These are the best bang for the buck when it comes to quality and effectiveness.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser has shea butter. For oily skin, choose something like Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash. If your skin is in between normal and oily, Dove Essential Nutrients Self-Foaming Cleanser attacks oil. Bloom Facial Cleaners is highly popular with the aromatherapy crowd because it has lavender. If your budget isn’t big and your skin is sensitive, go for Avon Clear Skin Foaming Cleanser. If you want to combat blemishes without drying out your skin, try Neutrogena Pore-Refining Cleanser. If money is no object, Murad Acne Kit is for you because it cleanses, exfoliates, and treats blemishes.

Moisturizers

Moisturizers make your skin soft to touch and sweet to smell. For dry skin, you need glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Dove Sensitive Essential Day Lotion is recommended for its lightness and for being dye and fragrance-free. Lancôme Absolute Night Treatment is desirable for its natural components such as soy. Crème de la Mer is an awesome moisturizer. Oily-skin victims fear not! Get a product that’s oil-free (not non-pore clogging). One suitable moisturizer is Lorac Oil-Free Moisturizer. People who are in between normal and oily need a gel like Aveeno Positively Smooth Facial Moisturizer.

Man skin care is important, not only for your health, but also for your looks. How you portray yourself to society can sometimes command how far you will go in terms of success and building friendships. Try the Xtend-Life line of products and notice the difference it can make for your male skin care routine, self-esteem and appeal.

Creative Gift Ideas For My Boyfriend

January 17th, 2009

I’m trying to think of what creative gift ideas for my boyfriend that would apply whether it’s his birthday, Christmas day or Valentine’s Day. I’m also trying to think of what creative ideas I can give my boyfriend on an every day basis so I can show him how much I care. I think it would be best to know first what are his likes and dislikes so I would know the best yet creative gift ideas I can give him.

Choosing some creative gift ideas for my boyfriend would be tough because I also would want to impress him. However, I need to think creatively and without any boundaries on things that I know would impress him and signify my affection towards him. I think I need to be more closely observant on my boyfriend on thing that he gravitates to. In this way, it would be easier for me to choose the best creative gift ideas for him.

Interests would be a great help in choosing creative gift ideas for my boyfriend as well. I need to know if he likes sports or what hobbies do he really enjoys. Is it okay to get him something that would relate to his hobbies or sports that he likes? If he likes the sports of basketball, I think I should get him some new sports clothing or a new ball. If he is interested in sports cars or airplanes, then I guess I must get him some things related to such. Sensually aside, what if he likes colognes or perfumes? I think I should pay a visit to the malls or department stores so I can check out what are the best recommended colognes or perfumes for men. On the other hand, it’s crossing my mind if he likes spicy, woody, citrus scented cologne? I think I should be sure enough on what type of scent he likes and I will like as well. Well, but I want to give him something more than just a cologne. I believe there are some gift packages for men where several items are bundled in one box such as shower gel, body lotion, after shave creams, and cologne. I think this would best enough as a great gift for my boyfriend. On the contrary, it will benefit me in the long run because I will enjoy as well the scents of the gift I gave him.

Clothing can also be one of those popular creative gift ideas for my boyfriend. However, if I get to choose this kind of gift idea to him, I should make a point that I know the size of jacket, shirt and pants that my boyfriend wears. In this way, it would be easier for me to shop the gifts. Sizes are not the only important I think I should also consider the patterns and colors that he likes. I just can’t buy clothing as gift with colors and patterns that he does not like. Styles count as well I believe. I should be keener if my boyfriend wears more corporate, casual and relaxed look of clothing. Well, if everything did not turned well, I guess I’ll just give him gift certificates as gift so he can choose personally on what type, color, style and kind of clothing he wants to get for the occasion.

January 16th, 2009

Its swimsuit season and you know what that means. It means getting your bikini area ready for the bikini. For some of us it’s an easy task, but for others, it can be a horrible vicious cycle of red bikini bumps and irritation that usually looks worse than the hair!

First off, you’re not alone. Every girl who removes unwanted hair gets bikini bumps and irritation - it comes with the territory. If you suffer from bikini bumps after shaving, you can’t leave it alone. It could turn into Folliculitis. Not to mention, how awful it looks.

So what actually causes these bikini bumps? It is most likely those pesky ingrown hairs causing the irritation. You see, these bikini bumps pop up when a hair curls back into the skin instead of growing straight out. Sometimes you might see some pimple-like blemishes created by irritation and those babies itch. No wonder it’s so painful with the razor burn and skin irritation.

Tips on Men’s Skincare

January 15th, 2009

Ever wondered if men care about skin care? It turns out there is a booming industry for men’s skincare that is finally making its way into society. Men are becoming more involved in skin care to stay competitive and more involved in men anti-aging skincare to help ward off the signs of growing old. Men all over the world are starting to learn about using the right kind of products to care for their skin.

A man’s skin differs from a women’s because it contains a higher percentage of collagen and elastin, so it is thicker. Also since in men, the sebaceous glands also work harder making a man’s skin oilier than a woman’s.

Men are also becoming more concerned with men anti-aging skincare. Men want to avoid having a ‘weather beaten’ appearance. The best way to combat this problem is to start wearing protection for you skin from the sun. Premature aging of the skin is caused by too many sunburns and exposure to the sun. Therefore it is best to protect your skin with sunscreen when doing any outside activity.

In addition to all the normal enemies of skin like the sun, poor diet and cold weather, a man’s skin also needs protection from the daily act of shaving. A man needs to protect his skin from rashes and burns that often result from shaving. Shaving in the opposite direction of hair growth can leave a man with skin that is irritated and red.

For good skincare a man should begin by splashing warm water in their face. That will make it easier to work up a good lather during the application of vitamin-rich shaving gel and the warm water will also soften the skin. Be sure to take a little extra time to really massage in the shaving cream. The massaging of the skin will help stimulate blood flow in the dermis.

To make sure you get a close shave, never shave in the opposite direction as hair growth. Shaving in both directions or shavings in the opposite direction can, as already mentioned, causes a great deal of skin irritation that can last for hours.

Finally, slow down when shaving and never use a dull razor. This will also contribute to accidental cuts and scrapes as well ad skin irritation due to the dull razor.

To properly limit the impact of aging there is more to men’s skincare than most men realize. Men should start each day by deep-cleaning your face to remove dirt and sweat. This can be done as part of a man’s shaving routine each morning. Men should also exfoliate their skin by removing the top layer dead skin cells and other pore-blocking grime. This can be done with a loofah or a body exfoliating brush. When a man showers and the body is thoroughly wet apply some exfoliating cleanser to loofah or exfoliating brush and scrub the body with it, using gentle, circular motions Exfoliating of the face will also open your pores and that will help ensure a closer shave.

To help skin seal in moisture a man should also use moisturizing products. Many shaving products dry skin. It is important to use after shave products that do not contain alcohol. Alcohol is too harsh on the skin and it will dry skin which is opposite of what you are trying to achieve. When choose moisturizing products, pick those that contain vitamins or aloe vera for additional skin conditioning.

The last part of men’s skincare you do not often hear much about is general healthy living. Eat right, exercise, do not smoke, and drink in moderation will not only keep a man healthy, but will also keep his skin healthy.

Believe me. Once a man starts to apply this information concerning men anti-aging skincare as well as men’s skincare in general, they will gain the understanding and ability to ward off the signs of growing old. Men are listening, which is shown by the growth of skincare industry for men.

5 Botanical Skin Care Products - That Are Safe

January 14th, 2009

Botanical skin care products are a wonderful choice, but how do you know they’re safe? That’s a good question because companies avoid disclosing the actual ingredients and instead use proprietary names.

They are also required to list the chemical nomenclature of the botanicals. It’s really hard to tell the difference between something naturally occurring and a synthetically created compound. The list of ingredients that you may run into are too numerous to completely cover here. But, I can give you a few hints.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)

Many botanical skin care products contain this ingredient. It’s commonly referred to as Shea butter. It is created by extracting the oil from the Shea nut tree, which grows in Africa. It’s an effective moisturizer, reduces scars, blemishes and brown spots.

It is often found in anti-aging products, because it smoothes out wrinkles and fine lines. It reduces inflammation and soothes burns and scrapes.

Undaria Pinnatifida (Kelp/Algae)

This is a variety of kelp or brown algae that grows in the Sea of Japan and other areas of the world. Its common name is wakame. You’ll see it on the menu at Japanese restaurants and in health food stores.

Botanical skin care products contain the extract, as it has been shown to increase the level of protein, specifically hyaluronic acid, found in the skin. It stimulates the immune system, reduces inflammation and helps to prevent allergic reactions.

Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel)

The common name is witch hazel. It’s an astringent that is extracted from the leaves and bark of the bush that grows wild in North America. It is used for cleaning, healing, soothing and to prevent infections.

Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Oil)

The common name is avocado oil. It can be found in gourmet food shops and in botanical skin care products. It has many benefits. It’s an effective moisturizer. It stimulates collagen production and contains many of the nutrients necessary for the skin’s overall good health.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba)

The common name is jojoba. It has long been used to heal and soothe cuts and scrapes. As a moisturizer, jojoba is an excellent choice, because it balanced sebum production. It has proven effectiveness in treating acne and psoriasis, even though one condition causes excessive sebum production and the other causes reduced sebum production.

Creams that contain jojoba are perfect for people with combination skin types. They work well under makeup and make a soothing after shave lotion.

Other Botanical Skin Care Considerations

Botanicals provide just about everything that we need to take care of our skin’s health. But, try to fully evaluate the ingredients in a product before you buy. There are some organic creams on the market that still contain oxybenzone, even though it’s a known carcinogen.

Find A Company That Hides NOTHING

Look for a company that you can trust to provide ingredients that are completely safe and effective. Try to find a manufacturer that “spells it all out” for you. If they seem to be hiding behind proprietary labels, keep looking.

Please remember my adv ice: all botanical skin care products are not created equal. Take this opportunity to shop for the best botanical skin care.

titleHorseshoes and the Trims They Bring - HorseShoe Manufactures Set the Trend, Our Horses Pay the Price/titlepSome recent and not so recent research has prompted my writing this article. Over the past two decades horseshoe manufactures have been inadvertently or perhaps purposely setting trends that could be proving to be detrimental to even those horses that go barefoot. You read it right; trend set by horseshoe manufacturers could have an effect on your barefoot horse. Not through their production of horseshoes, but rather by the style of shoes that they produce./ppThinking back to when I began as a farrier almost 25 years ago, I can remember making my weekly pilgrimage to the local farriers supply store to purchase the required horseshoe inventory to stock my shoeing truck for the week. I would calculate the number of pairs and the sizes I would need for the coming weeks work. As my business increased, it became more difficult finding the time to make those weekly trips, and I soon found myself buying inventory for the month./ppEstablishing a horseshoe inventory was pretty straightforward. I, like most farriers at that time, would buy fullered, punched keg shoes by the case, in the most common sizes 00, 0, 1, 2, 3. The term keg shoe defines the most common of machine made horseshoes. The keg shoe comes in a generic oval shape and was called the keg shoe because they were originally shipped in kegs (barrels). This type of shoe almost always needed to be shaped to fit the hind or front foot of the horse. All too often the hurried farrier simply would spread, or close the shoe to fit a foot, and then shape the foot to the shoe., rather than the shoe to the foot./ppThis practice was likely the first in the beginning of what would become trend, started by the type of shoe that was available from a shoe manufacture. It was the shape of the early manufactured keg shoes where it all began, trend setting./ppAs new manufacturing techniques developed, manufactures began producing shoes in a variety of new shapes. The first new style shoes to be offered were front and hind pattern shoes which came out of Europe. American farriers who at the time were taking flack for setting the trend of long toe and low heels, this said to help increase stride, were quick to embrace this convenient way of addressing breakover. This ws the beginning of a new trend, ont that may prove to be just as damaging to todays horse as long toes and under run heels./ppIt was the hind pattern shoe that really changed things. The hind pattern shoe was the first readily available shoe to be offered with a square toe. Quickly manufacturers introduced hind shoes with ready-made side clips, and front shoes with toe clips. The front shoe pattern was often rounder than the standard keg shoe that many of the farriers were using at the time. This may have been why some farriers began using hind patterns on the fronts of the horse; this proving to be a simple way of providing a square toe to the front foot, making fitting easier./ppTwenty years ago, the square toed horseshoe, was more often viewed as a remedial or corrective type horseshoe. It was not often used as a keg shoe. Prior to being able to purchase the square-toed shoe, the square toe needed to be forged./ppOver about a ten year period pattern shoes flooded the market./ppAmerican based companies began producing front pattern shoes that were not as round as the European type pattern shoes. These new patterns more closely resembled the traditional keg shoe. With increase in production came price reductions, making it more economical to purchase clipped shoes, rather than forging them. In the mid nineties Eventer-type shoes were introduced. These pattern shoes had a rolled cross section, claiming to aid in breakover, they also came in front and hind patterns./ppAbout the mid nineties, we say increase in the use of the Natural Balance Shoe (NBS), which was fashioned after the footprint of the feral horse. It too had square toe and came in front and hind patterns. Each time a new shoe was introduced, it was accompanied by claims that the shoe aided breakover, and / or provided needed heel support. This is still true today, of most newly developed horseshoes.brSo where is all this going?/ppTo the point, shoe manufacturers have been setting trends that influence the way the farrier addresses the foot./ppRecently, I have compiled research on a little understood malady that affects many of todays horses, the black hole seedy toe./ppOur research began in 2001, the opening of the International Institute of Equine Podiatry. Inc., since which time we have examined over 1200 hoof cadaver specimens. We observed a dramatic increase in the occurrence of black hole-type seedy toe. Investigation has now provided evidence that suggest that various trimming and shoeing trends could be that cause for this increase in the incidence of this malady./ppOur research has shown that more often that not, the black hole is evidence of a Hyper Keratinized Horn mass, located at the creana marginalis of the coffin bone (seen as a notch in the coffin bone). One theory suggests that an abnormal increase in the size of the creana marginalis was likely due to a compromised blood supply. Further studies implicate that the cause of manifestation of the HKH mass at the site of the creana marginalis is stress./ppBiopsies were taken from twenty (20) specimen masses and prepared for examination. Opinions gathered from several pathologists were unanimous; the HKH mass was the result of hyperplasia of epithelial cells with keratinization, this likely caused by stress./ppMicrophotographs of tissue samples from the masses often showed elongated secondary epidermal laminae (SEL); this occurrence has been associated with changes in response to stress./ppMeasurements were taken of the solar foot print of the twenty specimens from which the masses were harvested. This showed us that the greater the variance in balance, the larger the mass often appeared. The most widespread causes of imbalance were the under run heel, and the creation of excessively short breakover./ppThe research has allowed us to develop a number of hypotheses./ppbi1. /i/bThe theory that abnormal increases in the size of the creana marginalis of the coffin bone is the result of a compromised blood supply due to long toes is no longer tenable.brbi2. /i/bResearch supports the theory that abnormal increases in the size of the creana marginalis may be natures way of increasing surface area in response to increased stress.brbi3. /i/bEvidence supports the theory that stress and the resulting HKH mass is the cause of the enlargement of the creana marginalis of the coffin bone./ppOur conclusion are that trends perpetuated by various shoe types and various trimming techniques proposed over the past decade, are responsible for an increase in the development of the HKH mass, and the resulting black hole seedy toe. The majority of the proposed techniques promote dramatic reduction in breakover, which can lead to improper positioning of the coffin bone within the hoof capsule. There are a number of factors that have surfaced, many of which are the result of improper trimming./ppWhat this all means to those of you that have chosen to go shoeless with your horse, is that you should look more closely at the way your horse is being trimmed./ppHere are some recommendations that may help in preventing mass growth, and may aid in stabilization of an existing condition.brol liAggressive rolling of the wall at the toe should be avoided. Avoid dubbing the wall or rockering of the toe into or palmar of the whiteline. liAvoid ground parallel coffin bones. liDo not lower the heels to the viable (live) sole at the angle of the bar/wall (often results in ground parallel coffin bone). liUnder run heels do not justify radical break over placement. liTreating of black hole seedy toe with topical solutions or soaks will do little to remedy the problem. liBalance should be addressed and any cause of stress relieved; this does not mean excessive removal of material at the toe./ol/ppThis new evidence bring into question the Universal Sole Trim theory, Natural Balance trim, and any other method that may disrupt balance, causing stress at the site of the creana marginalis (tip of coffin bone)./ppThere are far more studies to be done. Immunology studies are underway, and further research into the cause of the HKH mass is ongoing./ppAbout the Author: KC La Pierre, RJF, PhD is the Co-Founder of the Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry, Inc. A professional Farrier for over two decades, a researcher, and educator. KC La Pierre is a proud member of the Guild of Professional Farriers and a traditional Journeyman Blacksmith. titlePuppies in Costumes/titlepHere are a few helpful tips to keep your dog safe and reduce his stress, fear and anxiety if you are taking him out and about on Halloween. With all the commotion of excited little ones and extra noise and activity around your dog, he may not be able to cope. These tips might make it a little easier, but dont forget if he is so overwhelmed and scared, why bother? We all know dogs in costumes are funny, but you are not doing this for his entertainment, but yours./ppPRACTICE:/ppDress your dog up in the costume your have selected a couple of times before the big day and walk him around in it as you are going to do on Halloween. This way at least he wont be intimidated by this unusual apparel. If he is used to it he may relax and enjoy the walk about with all the extra activity being interesting, rather than distressing./ppBE AWARE OF YOUR PETS ANXIETY:/ppDogs in costumes will let you know by their actions if they are not going to tolerate being dressed up. I know it seems funny to watch a dog struggle when we try a hat or sunglaases on them, just for the entertainment value. But this is distressing and putting a dog in a full costume may be something they just wont tolerate. Once again if your pet cant get used to the costume, dont bother./ppBE VISIBLE:/ppSome dog costumes come with a reflective coating on them, but if you have one that does not, simply add some reflective tape which you can buy at the hardware store./ppMAKE SURE THE COSTUME IS SAFE:/ppThere should be no loose pieces or decorations on the costume that your pet can ingest. Your dog may find it way to appealing to chew off dangling buttons or material, which could cause choking or worse, a bowel obstruction. Also make sure nothing is hanging around his feet where he could get tangled or trip./ppMAKE SURE THE COSTUME FITS PROPERLY/ppJust as you do with his collar, check and make sure you can get two or three fingers between your dog and the fabric or tie-on that goes around your pet to hold the costume in place. Any ties or wraps around the neck should have extra care and attention, making sure they are comfortable./ppMAKE SURE THE COSTUME IS LIGHTWEIGHT:/ppRemember this is like us wearing a fur coat and then covering that up with more clothes. titleIs Your Home Safe Enough/titlepAs D-Day is approaching, your new baby is getting ready to arrive and you are frantically cleaning to get ready for your new arrival. You want what every new parent wants, the most perfect nursery, a sparkling clean house and a safe environment to raise your new bundle of joy. However, what you may be giving him is a home filled with dangerous toxins that he will be touching, breathing in, and ingesting. In the Indoor Air Quality Act of 1989, The Environmental Protection Agency commented that indoor air quality is a top environmental health problem in the U.S. Our air pollution is higher indoors, the place we spend most of our time, than outdoors./ppThe EPA states that it is 3 to 70 times higher. That is a frightening statistic. Newer houses are being built to be more efficient. This includes being more weather resistant, meaning less air entering/exiting the home than some of the older homes. Great, right? We stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer! In an ideal situation, that would be fantastic. Unfortunately, the products used in many households contain dangerous ingredients and toxins. Some of these ingredients are released into the air (think about the grocery store cleaning isle) and we breathe them in, absorb them from our skin, and in some accidental cases ingest them./ppAccording to the American Lung Association, some of the products release contaminants into the air and have been linked to cancer, eye, skin, and respiratory irritations, asthma, nausea, and dizziness, among many other problems. There are so many dangers in the world to let the products used in our homes be one of them. Healthy products are out there. Please make sure you, your children, families, and friends are not among the people who are being harmed by these toxins. Stay tuned for a list of some of the toxins found in most households and what you can do about it./ppAthena Lodge/ppMom of 3 Wonderfuls/ppHealthy Products + Time with my Kids = Healthy Family/ppa target=_new href=http://www.forourkiddos.comhttp://www.forourkiddos.com/a/ppGoal: Help People Make Their Home A Safe Home!/pbrbr
